School Visits to the Marina Towers Observatory

Since the opening of our observatory site in Swansea's Maritime Quarter in September 1993 the Society has made it available to organised school parties, (ages 8 - 12), every Wednesday morning between the months of September and May.
The Swansea Astronomical Society is conscious that the subject of Astronomy is included in the National Curriculum (Key Stages 1 and 4) and therefore we are taking this opportunity of listing the programme that the Society normally arrange for these visits.
    a. A display of astronomical photographs and exhibits.
    b. A visit to the domed observatory to see the largest telescope     in Wales.
    c. An audio-visual trip around the Solar System to introduce
the Sun, its planets and their moons to an 'intrepid' band of
    space travellers.
Wednesday visits to the Observatory site can be arranged by contacting the Education Officer - Visit Co-ordinator, Dave Tovey (click here to e-mail) or phone him on '01792 873334'.
Click below for the list of available dates but please check for final confirmation.
